YMCA Awards Level 3 Certificate in Instructing Studio Reformer: Groups

The aim of the course is to increase understanding of the relationship between Pilates exercise on the studio reformer and its benefits for physical well-being, functional movement, and overall fitness. This OFQUAL regulated and CIMSPA recognised qualification aims to provide advanced exercise instructors with the skills and knowledge to plan, deliver, and evaluate safe, effective, and technically precise reformer-based programmes for a range of client needs.

A particular focus is placed on instructing studio reformer groups, enabling instructors to adapt advanced repertoire for multiple participants while maintaining correct technique, class flow, and client engagement. Instructors will develop strategies for managing diverse ability levels within a group, ensuring each participant experiences a safe, challenging, and enjoyable session.

Course Content

During the qualification candidates will learn the following:

History and fundamentals of the Pilates reformer
Plan, deliver and evaluate Pilates-based reformer sessions (Groups)

Pre-requisite

Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork
The learner should ensure they have taken part in some reformer classes prior to practical attendance
