Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic weightlifting debuted at the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and has been a core Summer Olympics sport since 1920. Women’s Olympic weightlifting medals were first awarded in 2000. Today, weightlifting is widely used in sports performance to develop explosive, functional strength and to support general fitness and mobility.
In practice, Olympic lifts help build stability and strength around the major joints, making them an excellent option to develop and maintain overall fitness. There are many ways to incorporate Olympic-style lifts into programmes to improve power and strength — making this weight training qualification a strong addition to your skill set.
