This CIMSPA-endorsed qualification meets the industry requirements to work as a Group Exercise Instructor in the context of yoga, as set out in the CIMSPA Core Group Exercise Instructor professional standard. It gives you the knowledge, skills and competence to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective yoga sessions and to work unsupervised as an employed or self-employed yoga instructor.

The course is taught through blended learning — a mixture of home study and e-learning for the theory, plus face-to-face practical training. Once booked you will be sent your course manual and set up for your e-learning. You will then work with us over three weekends in a small group environment with your allocated tutor, covering the practical elements at your chosen location, followed by one assessment day for your practical assessment.

Course Content

The qualification is made up of six mandatory units covering:

• Applied anatomy and physiology for exercise programming and design
• Anatomy and physiology for exercise and fitness instructors
• The philosophy and fundamentals of yoga
• Principles of planning and delivering group exercise
• Planning and delivering a yoga session
• Lifestyle management and health awareness, including commonly occurring medically controlled conditions
• Providing a positive customer experience in the exercise environment

Pre-requisite

• Learners must be aged 16 or over. No previous qualification required.
