Level 2 Certificate in Group Training
The Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training in Scotland is ideal for learners who want to start a career as a group training instructor rather than working in a gym environment. This blended learning course combines home study, e-learning and 5 practical attendance days.
The qualification covers a variety of disciplines related to group training, including high intensity interval training (HIIT), circuits, body conditioning and studio resistance. It is designed to help learners plan and instruct safe, effective and engaging group sessions.
If you want the more traditional exercise to music pathway, you also have the option to complete the Group Training to Music unit by attending an additional 2 days of training after the main course.
Course Content
Candidates will study through home study, e-learning and 5 days of face-to-face learning. Course content includes:
- Principles of anatomy and fitness
- Professionalism for Group Training
- Health and safety in the Group Training environment
- Supporting behaviour change and healthy lifestyles
- Planning and instructing Group Training sessions including HIIT, circuit training, body conditioning and studio resistance
- Optional additional unit: Planning and instructing Group Training to Music sessions
Pre-requisite

Assessment and Certification
The course is assessed through written questions, assignments, theory assessments and practical observations. Some assessments are completed as home study, some during the attendance days and some on an allocated assessment date.
If you cannot make your allocated assessment date for this course, there is an option to move to a different date.
On completion, candidates will be awarded the Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training and, if completed, the Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training to Music, allowing them to join CIMSPA at practitioner level.
