YMCA Level 3 Award in Education and Training

This teaching qualification is ideal for those considering a career in education and training, those already working in a training role without a recognised teaching qualification, and assessors looking to gain an introduction to teaching. It is equivalent to and replaces the former PTLLS qualification.

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to educate and train individuals or groups. It is taught through blended learning — a mixture of home study and face-to-face teaching — and because it is delivered on a one-to-one basis, you can start at a time that suits you.

Course Content

Learners will cover:

• Understanding the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training
• Understanding ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
• Understanding the relationships between teachers and other professionals in education and training
• Understanding the types and methods of assessment used in education and training
• Using constructive feedback, keeping records and involving learners in the assessment process
• Understanding quality assurance and the legal and good-practice requirements relating to assessment
• Planning, delivering and evaluating inclusive teaching and learning
• Facilitating one-to-one and group learning and development

Pre-requisite

• None. Candidates must be involved in teaching and be competent in their specialist subject.
