The Level 2 Gym Instructor course is the first step you will take, it is a mixture of home study and practical workshops, referred to as blended learning. Initially once you book onto the course you will be supplied with a course manual and access to our e-learning covering the exercise and fitness knowledge element of the course. After successfully completing the home study element of the course (recommended 80 learning hours) you will be required to undertake five days of training which will focus on the practical element of the course (choose your dates from the level 2 gym instructor course dates. This part of the course is assessed through written questions, continuous assessment during the course and you will return (usually one week after the last attendance day) for a practical exam and two multiple choice theory exams (there is also the option to complete your theory assessments at an earlier date if you prefer).
After completion of your level 2 course you can then move on to the level 3 personal training part (choose your dates from the level 3 certificate in personal training dates), the aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-to-one training, fitness assessments, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client. It is also taught through ‘blended learning’ which is a mixture of home study (e-learning) followed by attendance days focussing mainly on the practical aspects of the course. The course is assessed through theory assessments, written questions, case studies and observations.
On completion of both courses candidates will be awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training which will also allow them to gain entry onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 3.
If candidates prefer, they can choose to complete the courses in stages, the anatomy and physiology and the nutrition units can be completed prior to attending the rest of the course as home study with then attending invigilated exams, this then allows the candidate to concentrate on the practical element of the course and the personal training case study.

*This course also includes a free Emergency First Aid course, an FEA CPD course to be taken within 12 months of qualifying at level 3 personal trainer. Candidates can choose from Kettlebell Instructor, Suspended Bodyweight Instructor, Boot Camp Instructor, Sports Conditioning Instructor, Circuit Training Instructor, Studio Resistance Instructor, Group HIIT instructor or if Exercise to Music qualified also available is Studio Combat Instructor. These courses must be booked separately, various dates available.
